SUMMARY: I AM LIKE A GRASS

The poet 'I Am Like Grass' is written by a major Punjabi poet Pash. In this poem the poet compare himself with a grass which never goes vanish. We cut the grass, animals grass it, people fire it but it does not finish. It appears again with a new green. Similarly the poet tells that a man can obliterate the sign posts, bomb the universities, reduce the hostels to rubble, many scorch the slums but cannot erase their identities. Their identities sprout again like grass.

The poet tells that a man may bomb Banga, may destroy Sangrur and reduce the whole district of Ludhiana to ashes but it is only time factor. After some duration they will appear again and their identities cannot be destroyed.

The poet through this poems wants to tell that the identity of a man is cannot be obliterated. Man's identity is immortal though the man is mortal. The identity of a man cannot be destroyed at any cost. It can be din for few periods but it appear again like grass. The identity of a man is like the grass which never goes to vanish.

Q. 1. Summarise the poem in about 100 words.

Ans. In this poem the poet Pash has been compared himself to grass. The grass which cannot be destroyed after chop, mow down and fire in the field. We can bomb to a building and convert it into pieces of stones and bricks but cannot erase its identity. We can bomb to place and convert it into ashes but it is only time factor and after some years it appear again. We cannot destroy the identity of grass which converts into jungle after some period. Similarly the identify of a people cannot be obliterated. People can die but his identity never dies and appears again of the his death.

 C. 2. GROUP DISCUSSION:

1. Nature is our best teacher.

Ans. It is true that nature is our best teacher. We teach many kinds of things form nature. Sun rises on limit time and sets on time. The day cannot be anything, cloudy, rainy, hot, cold etc. but the rising and setting of sun never closest. It teaches us our resolute nature. In any circumstances we have to do our duty. We teach it from nature. Flowers blossom in any circumstances which teaches us to live happy at any circumstances. The Himalayas is standing on its position and facing many kinds of problems but never changes its position which teaches us to live uncharged if we get any kind of problem. Thus we see that the nature is our best teacher and teaches us to face any kind of circumstances causing in our life.

2. We can always get inspiration from Nature.

Ans. We can always get inspiration form nature. As we see the nature never thinks about its past and always alive in its present. It does not make itself sick to think about its future. It faces all kinds of problems easily and never makes itself sad. We destroy many beautiful things of nature but it does to say us anything. We get inspiration from nature to not mind on anyone's fault and always to care on our duties.
