USED TO , BE USED TO AND GET USED TO
Used to + Verb
infinitive refers to a habit or state in the past.
It is used only in the Past
Simple Tense.
Past Habits:- If you used to do something, you did it for a
period of time in the past but but you don’t do any more.
We used to live there
when I was a child.
I used to walk to school
everyday when I was a child.
Past States:- we also say used to express a state that existed in the
past but doesn’t exist now. States are not actions. We express states
with stative verb such as have , believe, know, and like.
Example:
I used to like the Beatles, but now
I never listen to them.
He used to have long hair, but now
it’s very short.
I used to believe in magic
when I was a child.
I didn’t use to like wine, but now
I love it.

(To be --- means is , are , am, was , were, being etc)

We use “get used to “ to show

snowing. I am not used to such weather. I pulled out my woolens and wore
them layer upon layer till I felt worm and cozy. But I had a new problem. I was
unable to move comfortably as I am not used to wearing heavy woolens. Seven
years passed since then. Now I have got used to the cold. I don’t need to pile woolen
on my body. I manage with a thick jacket.
