2. Interchange of Assertive and Interrogative Sentences

 A. Assertive Sentence को Interrogative Sentence में परिवर्तन करना

Rule 1. Assertive से Interrogative बनाते समय Sentences की सहायक क्रिया (जैसे is, am, are, was, were, will. can आदि) को वाक्यों में सबसे पहले ले आते हैं अर्थात् वाक्यों को उसी सहायक क्रिया से शुरू करते हैं।

 

Rule 2. यदि Assertive Sentence , Affirmative (स्वीकारात्मक) होता है उसको Interrogative में बदलने पर वह Negative (नकारात्मक) Sentence बन जाता है। इसके विपरीत यदि Assertive Sentence Negative है तो Interrogative में बदलने पर वह Affirmative Sentence हो जाता है

अर्थात् उसमें आये हुए Negative शब्द जैसे not आदि हटा दिये जाते हैं।

 Never के स्थान पर ever

तथा No के स्थान पर any हो जाता है।

 

Rule 3. वाक्य के अन्त में प्रश्नसूचक चिह्न (?) अवश्य लगाते हैं। जैसे-

1. Assertive:- Tagore was a great poet.

Interrogative:- Was Tagore not a great poet?

2. Assertive:- You cannot win this match.

Interrogative: - Can you win this match?

3. Assertive: He will never forget my kindness.

Interrogative:- Will he ever forget my kindness?

4. Assertive :- No one knows you.

Interrogative:- Does any one know you? 

Or

Who knows you?

5. Assertive :-

The teacher asked Rakesh to be a good boy.

 Interrogative:-

Did the teacher not ask Rakesh to be a good boy?

Rule 4. Assertive Sentence में यदि Subject के स्थान पर everybody हो तो उसके स्थान Who का प्रयोग करते हैं। जैसे-

 

Assertive:- Everybody likes to become great.

Interrogative:-

Who does not like to become great ?

Or

Does everybody not like to become great?

 

Rule 5. कभी-कभी Assertive से Interrogative बनाते समय sentence का प्रारम्भ What, When. How आदि से करते हैं। जैसे-

1. Assertive:-

It is no good to help this poor man.

Interrogative:-

What good is it to help this poor man? Or

Is it any good to help this poor man?

2. Assertive:- Their glory can never fade. 

Interrogative:-

When can their glory fade?

 

EXERCISE (A) 

Transform the following sentences into Interrogative:

1. Nehru was honoured everywhere.

Was Neharu not honered everywhereeverywhere? 

2. None can avoid it.

Can anyone  avoid it? 

3. The sun can never set in the east.

Can The sun  ever set in the east? 

4. Everybody knows him.

Who doesn't know him? 

5. Everybody likes to earn name and fame.

Who doesn't like to earn name and fame? 

6. The earth is round.

Is the earth not round? 

7. No one is mightier than God.

Is anyone is mightier than God? 

8. He died in harness.

Did he nit died in harness? 

7. No one is mightier than God.
 Is any one mightier than God?/  Who is mightier than God.

8. he died in harness. Did he not die in harness?

9. Long life does not make a man great.

Does long life make a man great?

10. No one ever saw a greater misfortune.

Did any one ever see  a great misfortune/

11. Nobody would like to be called a fool.

Would anybody like to be called a fool?

Who would like to be called a fool?

12. Nobody would like to be a slave.

Who would like to be a slave? Would anybody like to be a slave?

13.  Everybody loves his motherland.

Who does not love his motherland?

14. no one can put up with such a conduct. Who can put up such a conduct? Can any one put up with such a conduct?

15. it is no good to help a mean man.

What good to help a mean man? Is any good to help a mean man?

16. Everybody likes to be prosperous.

 Who does not like to be prosperous?

Here we are gonna to Interchange Interrogative to Assertive. 


1. Interrogative: Can I ever win the prize?

Assertive: I can never win the prize. 

2. Is love not blind? 

Love is blind. 

3. Is Ram not a good boy? 

Ram is a good boy. 

4. Are his friends not faithful? 

His friends are faithful. 

5. Can a man change his skin? 

A man cannot change his skin. 

6. Did he not purchase a new scooter yesterday? 

He purchased a new scooter yesterday. 

7. Can you gather grapes from thorns? 

You cannot gather grapes from thorns. 

8. Can you leave your friends in this miserable condition?

 You cannot leave your friends in this miserable condition. 

9. Is blood not thicker than water? 

Blood is thicker than water. 

10. Did Ram not love his sister? 

Ram loved his sister. 

11. Who would not like to be rich? 

Everybody would like to be reach.  

12. Who would like to be poor? 

Nobody would like to be poor. 

13. Who would not like to have it? 

Everybody would like to have it. 

14. Who can control the wind? 

Nobody can control the wind. 

15. Who would not like to be famous? 

Everybody would like to be famous. 

16. Who does not know Mahatma Gandhi? 

Everybody knows Mahatma Gandhi. 

17. Who Has Seen The Wind? 

Nobody Has Seen The Wind. 

18. When can patriot die? 

A patriot can never die. 

19. What if you don't help me? 

It doesn't matter if you don't help me. 

20. Why waste time in this fruitless occupation? 

It is extremely foolish to waste time in this fruitless occupation. 

21. Why waste money on such useless things? 

It is extremely foolish to waste money on such useless things. 

22. Why waste time in reading trash? 

It is extremely foolish to Westin in reading trash. 

23. What though we happen to be late? 

It doesn't matter though we happen to be late. 

24. Shall I ever forget those happy days? 

I shall never forget those happy days. 

25. Is it not true that health is wealth? 

It is true that health is wealth. 

26. Is not the day intended for toil and the night for sleep? 

The day intended for toil  and the night for sleep.
