Remove “Too”
‘Too’ is an adverb that means ‘more than enough’ or
excess (more than necessary). It is wrong to use ‘too’ at the place of Very.
Because:
‘Too’ means----- more than
enough
and
‘Very’ means-------
enough.
Note:
Too is used in negative sense and very is
used in positive sense.
Note:
Too is also give the similar meaning as
also.
For
example: He
too went to Delhi.
Rita
lost her bag and books too.
We get two type of sentences of “too” on the basis of structure.
A.
Too + Adjective + Infinitive +……..
Ex:

B. Too + Adjective.

The tea is too hot.

My mother is too fat.
Now we are going to remove ‘too’ from the sentence type A
Too + Adjective + Infinitive +……..
Rules:
Ø Use so at the place of ‘too’.
Ø Use ‘that’ at the place of ‘to’
Ø Use I,
we, he, she, it etc. According to the subject of first clause that gives proper
sense.
Ø If first clause in present tense
then use cannot/does not/will not
Ø If first clause in past tense then use
Couldn’t
If first sentence if passive voice then change that sentence in
passive.
Ex
1. Sita is too weak to work.
Sita is so weak that she cannot work./doesn’t work/will not work.
2. I was too unhealthy to do this work.
I was so unhealthy that I
couldn’t
do this work.
3. This horse is too costly to be purchased.
This horse is so costly
that it cannot be purchased.
Ø If sentence in negative. Then we don’t use not in the second
part of the sentence.
4. Sima is not too young to go alone.
Sima
is so young that she can go alone.
Ø If the subject is it / non-living then
after that take

It ----- for Its.
5. This tree is too high for me to climb.
This tree is so high that I cannot climb on this.

41. The box is too heavy for any man to lift it single-
handed.
42. The work is too difficult for me to complete.
43. The pencil is too small to write with.
44. He is too late for the train. (He will not catch the train.)
45. She is too intelligent not to understand it.
46. He is too kindhearted not to forgive me.
47. He is too merciful not to take pity on the poor and the
needy.
48. His speech was too impressive not to impress the audience.
49. The house is too large not to accommodate all of us.
50. Jesus Christ was too kind-hearted not to love even his
enemies.

then add it should
have.

it should be./it is proper/enough.

3. Ram is too intelligent.
4. Sita is too dull.
5. He runs too fast.
(He runs faster than he should).
6. He came too early.
(He came earlier than
he should have.)
7. He ran too slowly.
8. She was too stupid.
(She was more stupid than she should have been)
9. He is too eager for praise.
10. Too many cooks spoil the broth.
Cooks beyond a proper limit will spoil the broth.
11. He is too attentive.
12. I ate too much.
13. He is being too kind.
14. The weather is too cold.
15. My mother is too busy.
16. She speaks too fast.
17. The water is too hot.
18. The sad news is too true.
(The sad news is unfortunately true).
