"Ought to" का प्रयोग कहाँ कहाँ होता है?

" Should" and "Ought to" have some moral connotations, Ought to is a stronger and indicates moral obligation wheras should indicate a recommendation.

Ought to एक मजबूत नैतिक दायित्व को इंगित करता है,जबकि Should का प्रयोग सिफारिस या सलाह  देने के लिए करते है।

It is used to giving or asking for advice.

इनका का प्रयोग सलाह देने या मांगने के लिए करते हैं।

For Example:-

We ought to do our duty .

The boy ought not to disobey his elders.

Honesty ought to be respected.

Satya ought to live disciplined.

Labour ought to be care for.

You ought to go immediately.

You ought to apologise for her behaviour.

He ought to speak truth.

You ought to work for welfare of the country.

(A) कर्तव्य या नैतिक अनिवार्यता (For Duty or Moral Obligation) के लिए :

1. हमें अपने माता-पिता की आज्ञा का पालन करना चहिए ।
We ought to obey our parents.
2. हमें अपना कर्तव्य करना चाहिए । 
We ought to do our duty.

3.व्यक्ति को अपने वृद्ध माता-पिता की देखभाल करनी चाहिए।

One ought to look after one's old parents.

4. हमें अपने पड़ोसियों की मदद करनी चाहिए।

We ought to help our neighbours.

5.सभी को अपने दोस्तों की रक्षा करनी चाहिए.

Everybody ought to protect his friends.

6.हमें देश के कल्याण के लिए काम करना चाहिए।

We ought to work for the welfare of the country.
7.आपको अपने अधीनस्थों की मदद करनी चाहिए।

You ought to help your subordinates.

(B) Negative Sentences में 'Ought not to' का प्रयोग करते हैं ।
1. तुम्हें बहुत ज्यादा सिगरेट नहीं पीनी चाहिए । 
You ought not to smoke so much.
2. तुम्हें यात्रा करते हुए इतना सारा नकद नहीं रखना चाहिए । 
You ought not to carry so much cash money while travelling.

(C) Past Tense में कर्तव्य के लिए 'Ought to have' का प्रयोग करते है । (Example 1) 
परन्तु Reported Speech में 'Ought to' नहीं बदलता है । (Example 2) 
1. तुम्हें कल घर चले जाना चाहिए था । 
You ought to have gone home yesterday.
2. अशोक ने कहा कि उसे चले जाना चाहिए था । 
Ashok said that he ought to go.

(D)  विश्वास पर आधारित विचार  के लिए (For belief based on thought  :
1. तुम्हारी माँ बहुत सालों से विद्यालय में पढ़ा रही है । वो तो अच्छी अध्यापिका होगी । 
Your mother has been teaching in the school for many years. She ought to be a good teacher.

If he started out at nine, he ought to be here by now.

अगर वह नौ बजे चला हुआ होता, तो उसे अब तक यहां होना चाहिए था।

This ought to be enough food for the four of us.

यह हम चारों के लिए पर्याप्त भोजन होना चाहिए।

The water ought to have boiled by now.

पानी अब तक उबल जाना चाहिए था।

Oughtn't the water to have boiled by now?

क्या अब तक पानी उबाल नहीं आ गया था?

(E) For advise or recommend

We ought to be leaving now.

हमें अब जाना चाहिए।

This is delicious. You ought to try some.

यह स्वादिष्ट है। आपको कुछ कोशिश करनी चाहिए।

You ought to have come to the meeting. It was interesting.

आपको बैठक में आना चाहिए था। यह दिलचस्प था।
