Verb के First form के पहले 'To' जोड़कर जो शब्द बनता है, वह Infinitive कहलाता है।
जैसे :- To walk (टहलना) , To eat (खाना), To write (लिखना ) इत्यादि।
दो प्रकार के होते है :-
1. Full infinitive \ To Infinitive\Infinitive with to \Infinitive
1. Full infinitive \ To Infinitive\Infinitive with to \Infinitive
2. Bare Infinitive or Infinitive without to.
Infinitive मुख्यतः शब्द है ,जो वाक्य में भिन्न-भिन्न कार्यों का संपादन करता है। यह मुख्यतः तीन कार्यो को करता है।
(A)- As a Noun : यह noun बनकर Subject( कर्ता ), Object ( कर्म ) या Complement ( पूरक ) का कार्य करता है।
(B)- As an Adjective : यह Adjective (विशेषण ) बनकर किसी Noun को Qualify करता है।
(C)-As an Adverb: यह Adverb (क्रिया -विशेषण ) बनकर किसी Adjective (विशेषण ) या Verb(क्रिया ) को Qualify करता है।
1. खेलना एक अच्छा व्यायाम है।
To play is a good exercise.
2. चोरी करना पाप है।
To steal is a sin.(It is sin to commit thief.)
3. शराब पीना स्वास्थ्य के लिए हानिकारक है।
To drink is harmful to health.
4. करने से कहना अधिक आसान है।
To say than do is easier.
It is easier to say than do.
5. वे शिकार में होशियार होते थे।
They were skilled in hunting.
6. दिन में सोना हानिकारक है।
To sleep in the day is harmful.
7. दिन में सोना आलसियों का काम है।
To sleep in the day is the work of the lazy.
8. मैं सोने वाला हूँ।
I am about to sleep.
9. वह नाचना पसंद करती है।
She likes to dance.
11. मेरी इच्छा घड़ी खरीदने है।
My desire is to purchase watch.
12. उसने साप को मार दिया।
He killed the snake.
13. तुम्हे वहा जाने की आवश्यकता नहीं है।
You need not go there.
14. बिना टिकट यात्रा करना दंडनीय अपराध है।
To travel without ticket is crime.
15. भूल करना माननीय है, क्षमा करना दैवीय है। To forget is humanity, to forgive is divine.
16. सुबह में टहलना स्वास्थ्य के लिए लाभदायक है।
To walk in the morning beneficial/ useful for health.
17. बड़ों का आदर करना हमारा धर्म है।
To respect the elders is our duty.
18. सिगरेट पीना स्वास्थ्य के लिए हानिकारक है।
To smoke / Smoking is harmful injurious to health.
To learn spoken English is not hard19. अंग्रेजी बोलना सीखना कठिन नहीं है।.
Or, It is not hard to learn spoken English.
20. बिना हेलमेट स्कूटर चलना खतरनाक है।
To drive scooter without helmet is dangerous.
Or ,
It is dangerous to drive scooter without using helmet.
Note:-
1. Need(आवश्यक ,जरुरत ) ,Bid (आज्ञा देना ), Make(बनाना ) , Let (.... दो ), Dare (साहस करना ) के साथ बिना 'to ' के Infinitive प्रयोग होता है।
Exemple -
1. अध्यापक ने उसे पाठ पढ़ने की आज्ञा दी।
The teacher bade him read the lesson.
2. उसने मुझे जाने दिया।
He let me go.
3. उसने मेरे सामने आने की साहस नहीं था।
He dare not come before me.
2. See, Hear ,watch,Behold, Notice क्रियाओं के बाद Bare infinitive का प्रयोग होता है।
As :-
1. मैंने उसे सड़क पार करते हुए देखा।
I saw him cross the road.
2. उसने तुम्हे हल्ला करते सुना।
He heared you making a noise.
3. मैंने उसे पतंग उड़ाते हुए देखा।
I saw him flying the kite.
3. Had better , Had rather , Would better , Would rather 'सुझाव ' का बोध कराने के लिए Bare Infinitive का प्रयोग होता है।
As :-
1. अच्छा होता, तुम वहा जाते।
You had better go there.
2. भीख माँगने से मेरे लिए मरना अच्छा होता।
I would rather die than beg .
3. तुम्हे जीने की अपेक्षा मर जाना चाहिए था।
You had rather die than live.
4. दया की याचना करने की अपेक्षा मेरे लिए मर जाना अच्छा होगा।
I would rather die than beg for mercy.
I would rather die than beg for mercy.
5. तुम्हे जीने की अपेक्षा मर जाना अच्छा होता।
You had better die than live.
You had better die than live.
6. घड़ी खरीदने की अपेक्षा पुस्तक खरीदना मुझे जरुरी है।
I had rather buy a book than buy a watch.
7. मैं अपनी आजादी खोने की अपेक्षा मर जाना पसन्द करुँगी।
I would rather die than lose my freedom.
8. मेरे लिए खेलने से अच्छा पढ़ना होता।
I had rather read than play.
9. मैं फाउल खेलने से अच्छा मैच हर जाना पसंद करूँगा।
I would rather lose the match than play foul.
10. क्या तुम गंदे विस्तर पर सोने की अपेक्षा मैदान में सोना पसंद करोगे ?
Would you rather sleep in the field than the dirty bed ?
11 . क्या रितिका व्यर्थ बोलने की अपेक्षा चुप रहना नहीं पसंद करती है ?
Had not Ritika rather keep silent than talk meaningless?
12. क्या उसे जीने की अपेक्षा मर नहीं जाना चाहिए था ?
Would not he better die than live?
13. जुर्माना देना तुम्हारे लिए अच्छा होता।
You had better pay the fine.
* Had better,Had Rather, Would Rather,Would Better किसी भी एक का phrase का उपयोग कर सकते हैं।
* इन सभी Phrases का प्रयोग दो क्रियाओ में से एक क्रिया चुनने के लिए होता है।
'तीनों का अर्थ' भाव की दृष्टि से एक ही होता है।
