"A marriage proposal” is a very interesting drama“A marriage proposal” एक बहुत ही रोचक एकांकी नाटक है Written by Anton Chekhov, a famous playwright and story-writer of Russia. जिसे रूस के एक प्रसिद्ध नाटककार और कहानीकार एंटन चेखव ने लिखा है।

The play presents the scene of Lomov’s marriage proposal to a girl named Natalia.यह नाटक नतालिया नाम की लड़की से लोमोव के विवाह के प्रस्ताव का दृश्य प्रस्तुत करता है।

Through this one-act drama, Chekhov reveals the fakeness of the world. इस एकांकी नाटक के जरिये चेख़व दुनिया के दिखावेपन को जाहिर करते हैं

He also tries to show how superficial these days people have become.

साथ ही ये भी दिखाने की कोशिश करते हैं कि इन दिनों रिश्त कितने सतही हो गए हैं।

Instead of emotional bonding in relationships, people simply favor wealth and money.

रिश्तों में भावनात्मक जुड़ाव की बजाय लोग बस दौलत और ज़ायदाद को तवज्जोह देते हैं। 

In this story, Lomov and Chobukov are close friends.इस कहानी में, लोमोव और चोबूकोव पक्के दोस्त होते हैं।

Lomov is in love with Natalia, the daughter of Chobukov.लोमोव नतालिया से प्यार करता है, जो चोबूकोव की बेटी है।

Lomov wants to marry her but he does not dare to propose marriage to Natalia.लोमोव उससे शादी करना चाहता है लेकिन उसमे नतालिया के सामने शादी का प्रस्ताव रखने की हिम्मत नहीं होती है।

Natalia’s father also wants his daughter to marry Lomov because Lomov is a very rich man.नतालिया के पिता भी चाहते हैं कि उनकी बेटी लोमोव से शादी कर ले क्योंकि लोमोव बहुत अमीर आदमी है।

But he has no idea how to persuade his daughter for this proposal.लेकिन उसे कोई रास्ता नहीं सूझता कि वह अपनी बेटी को इस प्रस्ताव के लिए कैसे राजी करे।

One day Lomov comes to his friend’s house and decides that today he will definitely propose marriage to Natalia.

एक दिन लोमोव अपने दोस्त के घर आता है और तय करता है कि आज वह नतालिया के सामने विवाह का प्रस्ताव ज़रूर रखेगा।

Incidentally, Natalia comes there herself.संयोग से नतालिया ख़ुद वहाँ आ जाती है।  Chobukov leaves them alone and leaves.चोबुकोव उनदोनों को अकेला छोड़कर वहां से चला जाता है।

A debate takes place between Lomov and Natalia लोमोव और नतालिया के बीच बहस हो जाती है। They start arguing over their dogs – Leap and Guess.फिर वे अपने कुत्तों – लीप और गेस, पर बहस शुरू कर देते हैं।

This debate is further heightened regarding their ownership of very old land.

They shout at each other.वे एक दुसरे पर चिल्लाने लगते हैं।

Upon hearing the scream, Chobukov comes out.चीख पुकार सुनकर, चोबुकोव बाहर आता है। Watching the two fight, he pretends to faint and die दोनों को लड़ते देख वह बेहोश होने और मरने का नाटक करता है

And appeals to Lomov and Natalia to accept the marriage proposal quickly.और लोमोव और नतालिया से जल्दी शादी का प्रस्ताव स्वीकार करने की अपील करता है।

Both accept the proposal.दोनों प्रस्ताव स्वीकार कर लेते हैं।

In this way, their argument turns into their marriage.

इस तरह उनकी बहस उनकी शादी में बदल जाती है।

Then after that,फिर उसके बाद, Natalia’s father Chobukov regains his consciousness 

 नतालिया के पिता चोबुकोव अपने होश में आ जाते हैं and he is happy that his daughter is going to marry a rich man.और खुश  हैं कि उनकी बेटी एक अमीर आदमी से शादी करने जा रही है।
