As if/As though /Like

 AS IF / AS THOUGH

As if / As though/Like are conjunctions,  each have similar  meaning. 

1. THE HOUSE LOOKS  AS THOUGH/ IF NOBODY WAS LIVING IN THIS. 

घर ऐसे दिखता है मानो इसमें कोई नहीं रह रहा था।

2. It  seems  to me as if you were mad

.(मुझे लगता है जैसे की  तुम पागल हो। )

3.He walks as if he were a lion.

( वो ऐसे चलता है मानों  की वो  शेर हो। )

4.It seems as if it would rain. 

ऐसा प्रतीत होता है मानो बारिश होगी।

5.This house as if nobody lived here. 

यह घर मानो कोई यहां पर रहता था।

6. It looks as if you have not met before

 ऐसा लगता है जैसे कि आप पहले नहीं मिले हो

7.It doesn't look as if the economy will improve soon. 

ऐसा नहीं लगता कि अर्थव्यवस्था में जल्द सुधार होगा।

 ऐसा प्रतीत हुआ है मानो की कोई यहां धूम्रपान कर रहा हो।

आप ऐसे दिखते हैं जैसे आप कई दिनों से सोए नहीं हैं

आप ऐसे दिखते हैं जैसे आपने कोई भूत देखा हो.

11. The house looks as if nobody was living in this

 घर ऐसे दिखता है मानो कि इसमें कोई नहीं रह रहा था।

आप ऐसे दिखते हैं जैसे आप ठीक से सोए नहीं हैं।

ऐसा लगता है बारिश होने वाली है।

 ऐसा लगता है जैसे छत पर जानवरों का झुंड दौड़ रहा हो।

18.His elder brother always teats as if he were a child.(unreal  )

 उसका बड़ा भाई हमेशा बच्चे की तरह चिढ़ाता है। 

19.They stored at me as if I were crazy.(unreal situation ) 

वे मुझे ऐसे घूर रहे थे मानो की मैं सुंदर हूं।

20.I'm not crazy but people looked at me like I was crazy. 

मैं क्रेज नहीं हूं लेकिन लोगों ने देखा मुझ पर जैसे कि मैं क्रेजी था।

21.She walks as if she were superstar. 

वह ऐसे चलती है मानो कि वह सुपर स्टार हो।

22.Rina sings as if she were a pop star. 

रीना ऐसे गाती है मानव की वह पॉपस्टार हो

23.She behave as if he wasn't there.

 वह ऐसा व्यवहार करती है मानो वह यहां ना हो।

1. ऐसा लगता है जैसे कि मौसम खराब रहेगा। 

It seems as if the weather is going to be bad today.

2. ऐसा प्रतीत होता है मानो कि कयामत का दिन नजदीक है.

3. ऐसा अनुभव होता है जैसे शरीर में कुछ चुभ रहा है।

 It feels as if something is pinching in my body.

4. तुम ऐसे खराटे लेते हो मानो की घोड़ा हो।

5. ऐसा प्रतीत होता है जैसे कि सारा बोझ उसके कंधे पर हो.

 It seems as if he had all the burdens on his shoulders.

6. तुम तो ऐसे बात कर रहे हो जैसे कि मैं तुम्हारा दुश्मन हूं।

 You are talking in such a way as if I am your enemy.

7. तुम तो ऐसे बात कर रहे हो जैसे कि तुम्हें विद्यालय जाना है.

9. लगता है मानो कि उसे तुमसे प्यार हो गया हो It seems as if he loves you.

मैं राजा के साथ समय बिताना बर्दाश्त नहीं कर सकता। वह ऐसा व्यवहार करता है जैसे वह सभी से अधिक बुद्धिमान हो।

 उसने मेरी तरफ ऐसे देखा जैसे कुछ कहने चाहती हो।

26.He looked so frank with him as if he already knew each other.

वह उसके साथ इतना स्पष्ट लग रहा था जैसे वह पहले से ही एक दूसरे को जानता हो।

28.You are talking in such a way as if  I am your enemy.

आप तो ऐसे बात कर रहे हो मानो कि मैं तुम्हारा दुश्मन हूं।

Explaination

Clauses that start with as if / as though describe an unreal or improbable situation.

 if they are followed by an unreal tense (the past subjunctive or the past perfect subjunctive).

 Otherwise, they express that the statement is true.

The past subjunctive after as if / as though indicates an unreal situation in the present. However, if the situation is true, we use a real tense to express present time:

He looks as if he knew the answer. वह ऐसे दिखता है मानो की उत्तर जानता हो।

 (he gives the impression that he knows the answer, but he (probably) doesn't know or we don't know whether he knows or not)

He looks as if he knows the answer. 

(he knows the answer)

If we put the verb preceding as if / as though into the past tense, the present simple knows changes into past simple, whereas the past subjunctive knew stays the same. Therefore, both sentences will read as follows:

He looked as if he knew the answer.

Consequently, the meaning of this sentence (whether he knew the answer or not) can only be deduced from the context.

The past perfect subjunctive after as if / as though is used to refer to an unreal past situation. If the situation is true, we use a real tense to express past time:

He seems as if he hadn't slept for days.

(it seems that he hasn't slept for days, but he (probably) has or we don't know whether he has or not)

He seems as if he hasn't slept for days. 

(he hasn't slept for days)

If the preceding verb is put into the past tense, the present perfect hasn't slept changes into past perfect, while the past perfect subjunctive hadn't slept stays the same:

He seemed as if he hadn't slept for days
