2. PASSIVE OF MODELS

 2. Passive of Model Verbs.

Models: -Shall, will, can, could, may, might, should, would, must, ought to. Models are used in different ways.   If the sentence is show promise, possibility, duty, power suggestion and necessity.

TYPE -1

STRUCTURE:
        …. +Model verb +be +V3 + by + …….

ACTIVE VOICE

PASSIVE VOICE

1. My father can foretell the future.

The future can be foretold by my father.

2. Her company may give Riya a new office.

Riya may be given a new office by her company.

3. They will kill the bird.

The bird will be killed by them.

1.     I shall help you.

2.     You will teach her.

3.     They will forget it.

4.     The police will arrest the thief.

5.     I shall do it.

6.     We shall welcome him.

7.     People will remember him.

8.     We shall hear his voice no more.

9.     Nobody will play the match.

10.                      We shall discuss the matter tomorrow.

11.                      Somebody will beat you one day.

12.                      We shall buy the books tomorrow.

13.                      You can do it.

14.                      Everyone can break it.

15.                      One can solve it.

16.                      A child cannot lift it.

17.                      He could beat him.

18.                      I could help you.

19.                      You may win the race.

20.                      He might solve it.

21.                      They might defeat us.

22.                      Our team may win the match.

23.                      You must help the poor.

24.                      You must not pluck the flowers.

25.                      You must send a reply.

26.                      You should help her.

27.                      They should take exercise.

28.                      They should finish the work.

29.                      I should do it.

30.                      We should not cheat our friends.

31.                      We could find it.

32.                      She could buy a car.

33.                      He would do it.

34.                      I would help you.

35.                      One can gain nothing without effort.

36.                      I shall never forget those happy days.

37.                      One ought to keep one’s promise.

38.                      Students should follow the rules of grammar.

39.                      My friends will blame me.

40.                      I shall cast my vote in his favour.

41.                      They will start the show in two months.

42.                      No one will do anything against you.

43.                      We will not admit candidates under 20.

44.                      You must not miss the first opportunity you meet.

45.                      They must endure what they cannot cure.

46.                      People will forget this event in a few years’ time.

47.                      We shall discuss the matter tomorrow.

48.                      Somebody will help you in the hours of need.

49.                      Someone will lead us properly.

50.                      They will exhibit the show till the end of this month.

51.                      We can invest a lot of money in this scheme.

52.                      Even the poor can enrich the country.

53.                      In accordance with the rules of the company, the organizers should give me two months to defend myself.

54.                      Students should help one another.

55.                      They could prove it easily.

56.                      The teacher might punish him for his absence.

57.                      One would never suspect it.

58.                      A man who has money should help one who has no money.

59.                      Examinees must show their admit cards in the examination hall.

60.                      You must write your answer on both sides.

TYPE -2

STRUCTURE:
        …. +Model verb + have been +V3 + by + …….

ACTIVE VOICE

PASSIVE VOICE

1. You should have helped her.

She should have been helped by you.

2. The student should have learned the words.

The words should have been learned by the students.

3. The children couldn't have broken the chair.

The chair couldn’t have been broken by the children.

MORE EXAMPLES:

1.    I shall have done the work.

2.    You might have heard the name of Gandhi Jee.

3.    They will have bought a car.

4.    They will have discussed the matter.

5.    They will have built the road by march.

6.    The child must have eaten the sweets.

7.    They must have killed the bird.

8.    He could have done that.

9.    You should have helped her.

10. He ought to have respected his elders.

11. He should not have neglected his wife.

12. The little child couldn’t have done all this damage.

13. He might have seen a tiger.

14. He should have written a letter.

15. The government will have made schemes for unemployed graduated by the end of this year.

16. They should have endured what they could not cure.

17. Nobody would have known anything if you had not said.

18. The poor fellow could have gathered much wealth if he had been a little dishonest.

19. They may have known the fact.

20. Our enemies must have started rumour.

21. Somebody must have found the lost baby by now

22. We should do what we want others to do.

23. You might have hurt his feelings.

24. Even the most foolish man of the world can understand this.
