2. PASSIVE OF IMPERATIVE SENTENCE

Passive of Imperative Sentences.

TYPE -1

यदि आदेशात्मक वाक्य से   Order or  Command  कस बोध हो तो, नीचे दिए गये नियम का प्रयोग करें. 

ACTIVE VOICE: V1+ O

PASSIVE VOICE: Let + O + Be + V3.

1. Do it. 

Let it be done.

2. Do this work.

Let this work be done.

3. Bring a glass of water.

Let a glass of water be bought.

4. Open the door.

Let the door be opened.

5. Switch on the radio.

Let the radio be switched on.

6. . Don’t pluck the flower.

Let the flower not be plucked.

7. Inform the police of the accident.

Let the police be informed of the accident.



 

 

TYPE -2

If imperative sentence shows Advice. यदि आदेशात्मक वाक्य से एडवाइस/सलाह का बोध हो तो Let के प्रयोग से PASSIVE  में चेंज नहीं करते है.

Then don’t change into passive using let.

ACTIVE VOICE :

                         V1+ O

PASSIVE VOICE:

S + should + be + V3 + O.

1. Love your country.

Your country should be loved.

2. Help the poor.

The poor should be helped.

3. Help your neighbours.

Your neighbours should be helped.

4. Don’t be daunted by danger.

You should not be daunted by danger.

5. Don’t insult the poor.

The poor should not be insulted.

If imperative sentence is not clearly show it is order/command or Advice then you can use any above rules according to sense.

(यदि आदेशात्मक वाक्य से स्पष्ट न हो की वाक्य order/command or Advice है तो भाव के अनुसार ऊपर दिए गए  नियमो का  अनुसरण करे।  )

Ex:

1. Do this at once.

2. Open the door .

3. Inform the police.

4. Switch off the light.

5. Inform him of the accident.

6. Post the letter.

7. Don’t close the gate.

8. Never cheat your friends.

9. Don’t touch the wire.

10. Read this book.

11. Help your friends.

12. Don’t cheat anybody.

13. Take medicine in time.

14. Give him a warning.

15. Give him a chance to mend himself.

16. Help the poor.

17. Send for the doctor.

18. Help the poor student.

19. Bring a glass of water.

20. Feed the poor.

21. Pay that bill today.

22. Honour the brave.

23. Respect your elders.

24. Go there.

25. Bring a glass of water.

26. Stand up.

27. Do.

28. Try to have success.

29. Work hard.

30. Look before the leap.

31. Come tomorrow.

32. Do it before it 3 p.m.

33. Learn these words by heart.

34. Put out the light.

35. Shut all the doors.

36. Advertise the post.

37. Hear him now. 

TYPE-3

If an imperative sentence starts / ends with the word ‘please/ kindly’ then we make passive using following structure.

It is requested to +Imperative sentence without please/kindly.

ACTIVE VOICE

PASSIVE VOICE

Kindly post the letter.

It is requested to post the letter.

 Take your chair, please.

It is requested to take your chair.

Please sit down.

It is requested to sit down

4. Please come in.

5. Please enter by this door.

6. Please take your sit.

7. Please go out.

8. Please do me a favour.

9. Please don’t disturb me.

TYPE-4

If an imperative sentence starts with intransitive verb, then to change in to passive we use following structure.

You are ordered / requested to + imperative.

ACTIVE VOICE

PASSIVE VOICE

1.  Stand up.

You are ordered to stand up.

2.  Do.

 

3.  Go there.

 

4.  Work hard.

 

5.  Sit down.

 

6. Gate out.

 

7. Come here.

 

8. Dance.

 

9. Go.

 

10.            Come in.

 

 

 

 

TYPE-5

Passive of indirect command/request/advice/order.

1. He asked Mohan to help him.

Pv. Mohan was asked to help him.

2. I requested her to sing a song.
Pv.
She was requested sing a song.

3. The doctor advised me to take medicine in time.
Pv.
I was advised to take medicine in time.

4. They told me to be quick.
Pv.
I was told to be quick.

5. Somebody told me to wait outside.
Pv.
I was told to wait outside.

6. He ordered the police to pursue the thief.
Pv.
The police was ordered to pursue the thief.

 

 

 

 

 


3. Interchange of Affirmative Sentence and Negative Sentences

Rule: 1. विलोम शब्दों से पूर्व not लगाकर Affirmative Sentences , Negative Sentences बन जाते हैं। जैसे -

                             Affirmative: He is fat. 

Negative: He is not thin. 

Affirmative: He loves drinking. 

Negative: He doesn't hate drinking. 

Affirmative: My shirt is loose. 

Negative: My shirt is not tight. 

Rule: 2. Degrees of Comparison को बदलकर यदि Comparative Degree का वास Affirmative (स्वीकारात्मक) है तो Negative (निषेधात्मक) बनाने के लिए Positive Degree में not का प्रयोग करते हैं। जैसे-

Affirmative: Ram is wiser than Mohan.
    Negative: Mohan is not so wise as Ram.

इसी प्रकार यदि Positive Degree का वाक्य Affirmative है तो Negative बनाने के लिए Comparative Degree में not का प्रयोग करते हैं। जैसे-

    Affirmative: Your brother is as wise as you.

    Negative: You are not wiser than your brother.

Rule 3.  जिन वाक्यों में alone या only शब्द आये हों तो उन्हें हटाकर वाक्य के प्रारम्भ में None but ले आते हैं। जैसे –

Only a fool could have done it.

None but a fool could have done it.

1.            Affirmative: Sohan alone got the prize.
       
Negative: None but Sohan got the prize.

2.            Affirmative: - Sohan alone got the prize. 
       
Negative: None but Sohan got the prize. 

3.            Affirmative: Only a fool could have done it. 
       
Negative: None but a fool could have done it. 

4.            Affirmative:  Only Ram passed in English. 
       
Negative:  None but Ram passed in English.

5.            Affirmative: Only good girls got good marks. 
       
Negative:  None but good girls got good marks.

6.            Affirmative: Only a rich man can buy this building. 
       
Negative: none but a rich man can buy this building.

7.            Affirmative: Only a little child would talk like this. 

8.            Negative:  None but a little child would talk like this.

Rule 4:  'too' को so.... that....cannot या could not में बदल कर। जैसे-

                Affirmative: He is too weak to run.

Negative: He is so weak that he cannot run.

Affirmative: Her love has been too deep to be forgotten.

Negative: Her love has been so deep that it cannot be forgotten.

Affirmative: He is too weak to run. 

Negative: He is so weak that he cannot run. 

Affirmative: Her love has been too deep to be forgotten. 

Negative: Her love has been so deep that it cannot be forgotten. 

 

Rule: 5.  As soon as वाले वाक्य का Negative बनाने पर as soon as के स्थान पर No sooner लगाइये और इसके बाद Affirmative Sentence के Verb को Interrogative Sentence का रूप दीजिए। (अर्थात् Helping Verb + Subject + Main Verb) और तब दोनों Clauses के बीच में than का प्रयोग कीजिये। वाक्य के अन्त में प्रश्नवाचक चिह्न नहीं लगाइये। देखिये निम्न वाक्य में 'I saw'  के स्थान पर 'did I see than हो गया है।

Affirmative: As soon as I saw the tiger, I ran away.

Negative: No sooner did I see the tiger than I ran away.

 

As soon as ----- No sooner

First clause  ----- change in to interrogative 

Than + second clause.

1.   As soon as I saw the tiger, I ran away.

2.   As soon as he saw us, he ran away.

3.   No sooner did he see us than he ran away.

4.   As soon as he came, it began to rain.

5.   No sooner did he come, it began to rain.

6.   As soon as the clock struck ten, we went to sleep.

7.   As soon as we came out, it started raining.

Rule 6. did not fail' का प्रयोग करके भी Affirmative Sentence को Negative में बदलते हैं। जैसे -

I saw the Red Fort last year.

I did not fail to see the Red Fort last year.

Transform the following Affirmative Sentences into Negative Sentences:

1. We will always love our parents.

2. Only Ram passed in English.

3. Only good girls got good marks.

4. My shirt is loose.

5. As soon as the clock struck ten, we went to sleep.

6. As soon as he came, it began to rain.

7. Only a rich man can buy this building.

8. He loves all.

9. Iron is more useful than gold.

10.            He is fat.

11.            They should attend the marriage.

12.            She is as dull as an ass.

13.            Ram is taller than Sita.

19.            I was doubtful whether it was you.

21.            As soon as he saw us, he ran away.
